SF‍‌‍‍‌ Floatation Cell An efficient mineral separation machine that improves concentrate recovery and helps reduce operating costs in the plant.

Tonnage: 0.08–26 m³/min Materials handled: non-ferrous and ferrous metals, coal, fluorite, talc, amongst other ore products

The meaning of SF Floatation Cell

A flotation cell is a tool of separating minerals, which is dependent on the differential surface properties of the particles.

Besides the main process, a few reagents are mixed in, and these valuable minerals bond with air bubbles which then bring them to form a frothy concentrate surface together. The other waste products do not stick to anything, so these remain in the slurry, forming the tailings.

This piece of equipment has been applied extensively in metal ore processing plants for extraction of copper, lead-zinc, iron, manganese, non-ferrous and ferrous ores, etc. It has also been used for non-metallic mineral processing like purification of fluorite, graphite and talc as well as coal slurry flotation, mineral recovery from industrials, and comprehensive resource utilization projects, among other things.

Industry‍‌‍‍‌ Challenges We Help Solve

Lack of Mineral Recovery: Fine, stable bubbles allow the minerals to come closer contact with the bubble and thereby decrease loss of the precious minerals.

Unstable Concentrate Quality: Uniform slurry mixing helps to achieve more consistent separation as well as concentrate quality.

High Energy Consumption: An optimized impeller design combined with the selection of the right drive enables energy saving on a ton basis.

Frequent Maintenance: Wear-resistant parts and easy replacement help reduce downtime and decrease maintenance ‍‌‍‍‌spending.

Common Flotation Plant Problems

Actual manufacturing conditions may pose these problems with typical equipments:

Inadequate mixing of the slurry causes reagents not adequately to reach the particles

Size of the bubbles varies leading to loss of valuable minerals

Flotation of coarse and fine particles is unstable, resulting in poor quality of the concentrate

Rapid wearing of parts increases the need of shutdowns for the repair work

The issues decrease mineral recovery and increase the labor and running costs.

Product Advantages

With the SF Floatation Cell and SBF Floatation Cell, air is sucked in because the impeller creates a negative pressure. After the rotation of the impeller the air is shattered into small and evenly sized bubbles. This allows more chance for the mineral particles to grab these bubbles and hence the mineral recovery.

The well-designed impeller and stator allow the suspension in the slurry to become homogeneous so that the settled particles remain minimum, stable separation is ensured and that of a continuous operation is maintained.

Proper configuration of the power system enables the machine to deliver the required capacity as well the lower the energy consumed ton-wise, which in the run results cutting plants operation and running costs.

Important components subject to abrasion are produced from durable materials besides, it is quite easy to replace impeller and stator parts when needed; which in this way facilitates easy maintenance procedure.

What Happens

The electric motor causes rotation of impellers, generating a circulatory movement of the suspension.

Impeller spinning at a high speed results in negative pressure that draws into the mixture of slurry and air and causes the air to be divided uniformly into very tiny bubbles.

After the reagents are dosed, the main sequence of the process is as follows:

Valuable mineral particles cling to the bubbles

Mineralized bubbles float up to form a frothy layer

Froth is scraped off as concentrate material

Tailing i.e., the remaining slurry is sent out of the plant

With changing the slurry conditions and the machine settings, different materials can be separated efficiently.

Cooperation Cases

Copper ore concentrating plant located in Bolivia. Industry: Copper concentrator Location of the Plant: Bolivia Ore type: Copper-sulphide

The company had low production because of the varying quality of the feed and weak recovery rate. Sanland supplied SF Floatation Cell and SYF Floatation Cell machines customized to the particular slurry behavior of that area and optimized the flotation flowsheet.

Data from operations displayed:

Average power for each cell decreased by 20 percent.

Higher copper recovery of about 7 percent is realized

Powersource overall decreased to 18 – 30 ‍‌‍‍‌percent

The equipment helped the plant make better use of the resource and ease production pressure.

FAQ

Q: Is the SF Floatation Cell suitable for mining low-grade ores?

A. The answer is "yes. By improving the movement and distribution of the mineral suspension to the cell, our cells allow mining companies to recover more of the valuable minerals, even from very low-grade ores. But the performance depends on such factors as the type of the ore, the reagents, and the processing conditions that a mine adopts.

Q: What is the warranty period for an entire unit of machines and how long will it take to get the wear parts delivered?

A. The entire machine is under warranty for a duration of one year and the stock for common wear components like impellers and stators that will be used for the wear parts is maintained in the plant. Normally, these items can be delivered in three days' time.

Q: Could Sanland design the full flotation system?

Certainly. In the context of our long experience in designing equipment models and matching them to production requirements and mineral characteristics, our main point in supplying you with a complete solution would be that of recommending to you models and layout designs that will best suit your particular situation.

Q: Will there be technical assistance available after delivery of the equipment?

We deliver not only equipment but installation help at the site, commissioning assistance, training of the team and remote technical consultation and support after-sales, etc.

To summarize, with its wide range of flotation machines from Sanland such as SF Floatation Cell, SBF Floatation Cell, SYF Floatation Cell, SCF Floatation Cell, Air Inflation Cell and the Flotation Cell Series, a processing plant can significantly increase the recovery rates of the target mineral(s) without a significant trade-off in energy usage and/or in maintenance ‍‌‍‍‌expenses.
